The United States Treasury Department, after serious debate, has released the final regulations regarding Program Related Investments, PRI's for short. These PRI's are investments that have no special interest, and cannot be used for political or positional gain. Investors are often unaware exactly where this money is distributed to protect the interests of both parties.
These regulations redefine what it means to be a program related investment and how these investments can and can not be used. These regulations do not change any of the previously existing laws, however they do set forth a number of regulations and stipulations that did not previously exist. These regulations are intended not to alter the way things work currently, but to help lay a more firm groundwork on which future investment policies may or may not be molded.
